Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since March of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
